1937 February 13th
THE BEGINNING OF THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS
George Preston Marshall brought football team to the city of Boston in 1931 the team was formally the Duluth Eskimos, but when the moved to Boston the name was changed to the Boston Redskins after the Coach Lone star Dietz.
The team had early failures but quickly found some success in winning the NFL eastern division. The only problem was the team was ignored in favor of the Harvard and Boston college football teams, it got so bad that in 1937 on February 13th he moved the team to the nations capital Washington D.C
The redskins would find more success and a lot more love the the city then Boston had given them, and it would result in in multiple championships. Marshall would own the team until his death in 1969 the team would go on to be one of the most historic in the NFL winning 3 superbowls and developing some of the most intense football rivalries with the Dallas cowboys and New York.
